Flam & Fjords

To experience “Norway in a nutshell”, we took a local train from Bergen to Myrdal, where we switched to the Flamsbana.  Flamsbana-The Flam Railway, is a spectacular train journey that offers a panoramic view of some of the wildest and most magnificent nature in the Norwegian fjord landscape.

The line consists of 20 tunnels, 18 of which were dug by hand, and takes you from the mountaintop station of Myrdal at 2844 ft to sea level at Flam.

Flam

After a few hours with close cruise boat friends in Flam, we returned back to Bergen via  boat – which took us through Sognfjord –  the largest fjord in Norway.
